HIS EXCELLENCY MOST REV. DR. YOOHANON MAR THEODOSIUS
Bishop of Muvattupuzha & Apostolic Visitator to Europe
Most Rev. Dr. Yoohanon Mar Theodosius, was born on 8 April 1959, Puthusseribhagom, Kerala, India in the Major Archieparchy of Trivandrum. His parents are Mr. Philipose Oonnoonney & Mrs. Chinnamma (Late). After High School education he joined the St. Aloysius Minor Seminary, Trivandrum. He studied at St. Joseph’s Pontifical Seminary, Aluva and completed a bachelor's degree in Philosophy and Theology. He was ordained priest for the then Archieparchy of Trivandrum on 22 December 1985 by Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios. He also completed his Licentiate and Doctorate in Oriental Canon Law from Pontifical Oriental Institute, Rome, Italy and Diploma in Priestly Formation from Sophia, Thailand. Besides his ministry as Parish Priest, he served Secretary to His Grace Late Archbishop Benedict Mar Gregorios, Archbishop of Trivandrum, Rector, St. Aloysius Minor Seminary, Trivandrum, Rector of St. Mary Queen of Peace Basilica(First Rector), Palayam, Trivandrum, Chancellor, Major Archieparchy of Trivandrum, Rector, St. Mary’s Malankara Major Seminary, Trivandrum, Vicar General & Chancellor, Major Archieparchy of Trivandrum and Eparchy of Gurgaon (New Delhi). Besides Malayalam and English he knows Italian, German, Latin, Sanskrit (working knowledge). He was appointed the Bishop of the Major Archiepiscopal Curia & Apostolic Visitator to Europe and Oceania on 21 September 2017. He took charge of the office as the Co-adjutor Bishop of the Eparchy of Muvattupuzha on 12 April 2018. On 12 June 2019 he was appointed the second Eparchial Bishop of the Eparchy of Muvattupuzha.
